1. All events conducted under the rules and regulations of the Atlantic Provinces Harness
Racing Commission, Standardbred Canada and Red Shores.
2. This is an Invitational Event. All horses declaring into race must be in by Tuesday, July
9 th at 9:00 am (ADT). The draw for the eliminations will take place Thursday, July 11th,
2024. Horses must have made a MINIMUM of TWO pari-mutuel starts during 2024 in the
Maritimes as of July 9 th, 2024, in order to be eligible to declare into the Governors Plate.
3. All races will be at a distance of one (1) mile unless otherwise stated.
4. All starting positions shall be drawn electronically using the electronic draw system
provided by Standardbred Canada, except the final which shall be drawn by lot under the
supervision of an APHRC Judge.
5. Purse distribution:
a. 5 or more starters: 50 — 25 —12 — 8 — 5%;
b. 4 starters: 50 — 25 — 15 — 10%;
c. 3 starters: 60 — 30 —10%;
d. 2 starters: 65 — 35%;
e. 1 starter: 100%
6. Red Shores requires six (6) separate betting interests to start in any event or it may be
canceled.
7. Red Shores reserves the right to reject any entry and declare off any event if conditions
warrant, call off any event not filling satisfactorily and place entries in their eligible class
if entered incorrectly.
8. Should any unforeseeable conditions prevent the racing of this event, monies paid will be
refunded.
9. Should any unforeseeable conditions prevent the racing of any or all events, Red Shores
reserves the right to carry races to a future race date subject to APHRC approval.
10. All horses shipping to Red Shores at Summerside Raceway must have a negative
coggins test (Reference APHRC Rule 133 and 149). All horses shipping into Prince Edward
Island must have current health certificates.
11. Furosemide/EIPH (Lasix) program will be available to horses competing in the
Eliminations, Consolation and Final of the Governors Plate 2024 under the regulation of
CPMA and APHRC.
12. Horses must meet the qualifying standards of Red Shores.
13. If more than ten (10) horses are declared in to start, elimination races (trials) will be
contested.
a. If there are sufficient entries for two trials, they will be held on Sunday, July 14th, 2024.

14. Horses eligible for the Governors Plate final and consolation are not eligible to race in
overnight races.
15. There is no retention barn for the eliminations. All horses entered into the final are
required to be in the retention barn at 9:00 am (ADT) on the day of the race, Saturday,
July 20th, 2024.
16. Declarations for the consolation will close at 9:00 am on Wednesday, July 17
th,2024.
a. The top four (4) official finishers from each elimination will race in the final of the
Governors Plate. The two horses finishing fifth will be drawn by lot as to determine
AE1 and AE2.
b. Horses that are listed as also-eligible for the Governors Plate will be programmed
in the consolation race but will retain the right to start in the Governors Plate final
if there is a horse(s) drawn.
17. In the consolation or final, should there be horses with common ownership; Red Shores
reserves the right (as per APHRC rule 206) to uncouple horses for pari-mutuel purposes.
18. A declaration for this event is an agreement to all the above terms and conditions.
19. Red Shores accepts no responsibility or liability for any accident, loss or damage,which
may occur on the property as a result of these races.
