Marvin Hagler Wires Western Fair Feature
Marvin Hagler won the featured $8,000 conditioned trot on Wednesday (Feb. 14) evening at The Raceway at the Western Fair District from gate-to-wire, earning himself a new lifetime mark in the process.
Brett MacDonald and the Mark Macquarrie student set out for the early lead. Designating themselves as the pacesetters for the mile, the pair handed out panels in :28.4, :58.2 and 1:27.2. Marvin Hagler had a 4-1/2-length advantage as he turned for home. Johnny Buckshot (Tyler Borth) overcame a first-over trip and sped home, but Marvin Hagler had enough of a cushion for the victory by 1-1/4 lengths in a career-best 1:57.1. Jayport Hi Class (Greg Dustin) completed the triactor.
Marvin Hagler (Crazed-Showmeyourmuscles) is a five-year-old gelding owned by Mary Pedden and Mark MacQuarrie. A winner of $137,345 in earnings, Marvin Hagler has made 18 trips to the winner's circle from 63 starts with two trips to get his picture taken made this year so far in six outings.
