Hour Lavec Wires Preferred Trotters

Trotter Hour Lavec successfully stepped up into the $15,000 Preferred 2 class on Wednesday afternoon at Flamboro Downs as he scored in wire-to-wire fashion for the father-son Davis team

.

Fresh off a front end victory in a conditioned trot last Thursday at the Dundas oval, Hour Lavec and driver Billy Davis Jr. fired to command from Post 5 in Wednesday's trotting feature and led the six-horse field past fractions of :28, :57.3, and 1:27.2 en route to the 1:56.3 triumph. The Mr Lavec-Magic Hour gelding held off the pocket-pulling Dashing Earl (Paul MacKenzie) by half a length while Defy Time (Scott Coulter) finished over seven length behind in third.

The Bill Davis trainee paid $9.90 to win as the 4-1 second longest shot on the board. He is now two-for-four on the year with over $15,000 earned for owners Jeffrey and Debbie Elchuk of Surrey, B.C. The victory was No. 18 for the six-year-old trotter, who has banked $319,826 lifetime.

The win was the second on the card for Bill Davis and third in the bike for his son Billy Jr.
