Amigo Volo Repeats In Mohawk Preferred
Amigo Volo doubled up in $36,000 Preferred Trot victories in back-to-back weeks after the Meg Crone student prevailed at the wire on Monday, Feb. 12 at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
Tyler Borth and Amigo Volo sat fourth through the opening panel in :28.4 before making a move to the top. Amigo Volo cleared the lead before the :55.2 half. He set the three-quarters in 1:24.2 and then, battled Handsome Sebastian (Sylvain Filion) to the wire. Coming down to the finish, Amigo Volo stuck his neck out at the light for the win in 1:52.3 over Handsome Sebastian. Oney Hall (James MacDonald) completed the triactor.
Pinske Stables and David Miller co-own the seven-year-old Father Patrick-Margarita Momma gelding, who recorded his second straight win of the year in four starts. In 88 career starts, Amigo Volo has earned a record of 33-22-12 and $2,412,926 in earnings. As the bettors' choice, he returned $4.20 to win.
Hes Got Swagger nabbed his 50th career triumph in race four with Travis Cullen holding the lines for trainer Jodie Cullen and owners A1stable and Grace Marshman.
The 6-1/4-length romp in 1:52.3 by the nine-year-old Vintage Master gelding sent his career earnings to $282,015.
Kyle Fellows sent out a trio of victors on Monday evening with wins coming from Mach Art In Motion ($3.20), driven by Doug McNair to a half length score in 1:54.2, Kruise On Dover ($47.80), driven by McNair to a 1:55.1 upset victory by a head, and Yacht Seelster ($8), driven by Tyler Jones to a 1-1/2-length triumph in 1:55.2.
