The Gypsy Queen IR Wins Seventh Straight Wednesday
The Gypsy Queen IR extended her winning streak to seven with an easy front-end score on Wednesday, Feb. 7 at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.
Ronnie Wrenn Jr. handled the driving duties for trainer Mickey Burke and owner Burke Racing Stable. The six-year-old daughter of Foreclosure N-Cannae Diamonds took an $15,946 conditioned event for fillies and mares in a career-best 1:51.1, lifting her earnings to $132,798. Whimsical (Aaron Merriman) finished second, 1-3/4 length in arrears with Always A Dancer (Brady Jenson) rounding out the top trio.
Elsewhere on Wednesday’s card, Always Gonna B You looked every bit as dominant as her 1-2 odds, rolling to her second straight victory in the $16,351 feature event.
Always Gonna B You zipped to the lead from post two and clicked off a snappy 1:23.2 three-quarters for Aaron Merriman. Longshot Osceola Hanover attacked from the pocket in the lane but couldn’t get closer, as Always Gonna B You defeated her by a length in 1:52.1. Day To Party was a ground-saving third.
Bill Bercury trains the winner, a five-year-old daughter of Always A Virgin-Passing Fancy who now boasts a lifetime bankroll of $444,494, for Renee Bercury. It was one of four wins for Merriman on the 13-race card.
Live harness racing at The Meadows continues on Thursday when the 13-race program features a $1,774.11 carryover in the Pick 5 (Race 9). First post is 12:45 p.m..
