Slay To Stand Stud In 2024
Canadian Trotting Classic champion Slay will be standing stud in Ohio in 2024.
Dublin Valley Farms announced on Wednesday, Feb. 7 the addition of the Chapter Seven stallion Slay 2, 1:52.4; 3, 1:51 ($856,860) at its Fredericksburg, Ohio facility for the 2024 breeding season. Slay will stand his first season for an introductory fee of $5,000 USD.
Foaled on April 12, 2019 at Apple Creek, Ohio, Slay comes from the outstanding gene pool of his sire, Chapter Seven 4, 1:50.1 ($1,952,853), which includes Conway Hall 3, 1:53.4 ($818,884), Pine Chip 4T 1:51 ($1,710,858), Prakas 3, 1:53.2 ($1,956,056) and Harmonious 3, 1:53.2 ($1,036,392).
Slay’s dam, Swinging Royalty 3, 1:54.1 ($255,880), as well as his granddam Swing Anna Cash 3, 1:56.3f ($42,774), include the bloodlines of Credit Winner 3, 1:54 ($1,495,295), Balanced Image 3, 1:58.4 ($175,154), Super Bowl 3, 1:56.2 ($601,006), Self Possessed 3, 1:51.3 ($1,346,390) and Armbro Goal 3, 1:54.3 ($1,442,022).
Slay was an exceptional two-year-old, winning a $71,000 division of the Bluegrass Stakes at Lexington’s Red Mile in 1:52.4 and amassing $113,779 in seven freshman starts. At three, Slay won five of 16 starts and added another $690,314 to his bankroll, winning the $615,000 Canadian Trotting Classic in 1:52.1 at Woodbine Mohawk Park, a division of the Stanley Dancer Memorial at The Meadowlands in a career-best 1:51 as well as three New York Sire Stakes divisions.
Slay was a $130,000 yearling at the 2020 Standardbred Horse Sale in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and is the second of five foals out of his dam. He is a full brother to Ahundreddollarbill 2, Q1:54.1; 3, 1:52s; 4, 1:50.2 ($991,970) and Royal Filly 2, Q1:55.4; 3, 1:52s ($246,209). Another full sister, the 2023 yearling filly Royal Mission, sold for $390,000 at the 2023 Standardbred Horse Sale.
