I Did It Myway Rolls To Dover Open Pace Victory
I Did It Myway made amends for his defeat last week and roared to victory in the $37,162 Winners Over/Blue Hen Handicap Pace at Bally’s Dover on Thursday night (Feb. 1).
Penzance Hanover and I Did It Myway were quickest off of the wings of the starting gate. Driver Corey Callahan wanted the lead with I Did It Myway and got it, passing the quarter in a rapid :26.2 and forcing Penzance Hanover to settle in the pocket.
I Did It Myway was on cruise control, reaching the half in :54.4, as Island Of The Sea moved first-over and chased I Did It Myway up the backstretch with Sweet Angel Boy following second-over. I Did It Myway, the 3-5 betting favourite, was on a mission and continued on the lead past the three-quarters in 1:22.2.
In the stretch, Mack moved off the pylons to challenge but that bid stalled late. Sir Issac Newton found room along the pylons and surged late but was unable to challenge the leader. I Did It Myway won by an unthreatened 1-1/4 lengths in 1:50.3. Mack closed to finish second and Sir Isaac Newton finished third up the inside.
I Did It Myway, a millionaire son of Captaintreacherous-Flyme To The Moon who paid $3.60 to win, is owned by David Hamm, EVM Racing LLC and Glenn Phillips, and is trained by Chuck Crissman Jr.
Tim Tetrick recorded four driving wins on the card.
Bally’s Dover races Monday through Thursday with post time at 4:30 p.m.
