Six For Borth At Western Fair
Tyler Borth has had a magic number of 'five' since the 2024 season started as he has repeated five scores on numerous occasions on the track, but on Wednesday (Jan. 31), the Ingersoll, Ont. resident went one better to take home six winners at The Raceway at Western Fair District.
Borth got the ball rolling in race three, a claimer worth $5,300, with Dean Nixon student Ultimate Twix ($2.50). The pair won by 3-1/2 lengths in 2:01.1.
E L Wild Sport ($6.90) won by 2-3/4 lengths in 2:01 with Borth holding the lines for David Bain in a claimer worth $4,200.
Mike Timpano and Borth teamed up for a double together with I Loved Her First ($2.20) winning from gate to wire by six lengths in 1:59.4 in a $7,000 distaff conditioned pace and Cash Advance ($7.20) winning in 2:00.1 by one length in a claimer worth $4,400.
Petro Angel ($3.10) and Borth won race 11, a $6,800 conditioned trot, from gate to win by three-quarters of a length in 2:01.4 for trainer Darryl Laver.
In the nightcap, Borth and Maximus Power ($5.70) won a claimer worth $4,700 in 2:00 by three-quarters of a length for trainer Cassidy Schneider.
Borth has 1,777 career tallies and more than $12.1 million in lifetime earnings. He had his career-best season last year with 414 victories and $4.3 million banked. This season so far, he has had 77 starts at the London, Ont. oval, posting a record of 29-16-11.
There was a No Contest declared in race eight after driver Anthony Haughan was unseated. Jooner broke right at the start, ended up going into the safety lane and dumped driver Haughan. Judges deemed it a No Contest due to the loose horse but both horse and driver were okay.
