Negotiations Breakdown For New Michigan Track
Plans for a new racetrack in Michigan have come to a halt with negotiations breaking down between Northville Downs and the Township of Plymouth.
According to an article by Hometown Life, the Township's Board of Trustees voted on Jan. 23 to rescind a motion authorizing negotiations for Northville Downs' development proposal to build a new half-mile racetrack, grandstand and barns on a 128-acre parcel in Plymouth, Michigan.
An impasse was reached concerning the community benefit agreement.
Harness racing at the current Northville Downs track, which opened in 1944 and was sold to housing development company Hunter Pasteur Homes in 2018, is scheduled to cease at the end of the meet on Feb. 3.
