Ms Quick Sand Upsets In Mohawk Friday Feature
Ms Quick Sand pulled off a 15-1 upset with Austin Sorrie working out the winning trip in Friday's feature, a $24,000 fillies and mares conditioned pace.
Major League N (Ed Hensley) fired to the front through a :27.1 opening quarter with Ms Quick Sand securing the pocket and 4-5 favourite Parisian Blue Chip (James MacDonald) tucking into third. As the mares headed down the backstretch, Parisian Blue Chip moved first-up with Gias Surreal (Bob McClure) tracking her cover. The half went in :56.4 and three-quarters in 1:24.4 with Major League N still in charge as they turned for home, but she was swarmed in deep stretch with the pylon-skimming Ms Quick Sand swallowing her up for the 1:53.1 victory and prevailing by half a length over outside closers Parisian Blue Chip and Gias Surreal.
Marie-Hélène Dupont trains the five-year-old Always A Virgin-Sand Pleasure mare, who is coming off a $100,000 campaign for owner Ecurie CSL of Sorel Tracy, Que.
Overlooked by the betting public after winning her last start of 2023 on Dec. 22, Ms Quick Sand returned $33 for a $2 win ticket.
