Adams Hits 1,000 Win Plateau
As part of a training triple, Brewer Adams notched his 1,000th career training victory during the Thursday, Jan. 4. card of harness racing at Miami Valley Raceway.
The longtime horseman entered the Thursday card of harness racing with 998 victories, and hit the 999 mark in the third race courtesy Odds On Osiris (1:51.4; $10.60) and driver Luke Hanners. The win margin in that race was only a neck, but Adams wasn't concerned about that stretch drive affecting his attempt for the milestone as that horse a neck back was stablemate Dontbothermenone N, driven by Dan Noble.
Adams and Noble connected in the very next race with Orv (1:53.4; $10.20) to hit the 1,000 win mark and then that tandem completed the training triple in the eighth race with Spriner N (1:52.4; $7).
A familiar name at tracks across the U.S. east coast since the late 1990s, Adams shifted his tack to Ohio in 2021. His 2023 season ranked among the best of his career for wins (66; fourth best total) and earnings ($706,456; third best total).
Adams sports 1,001 wins and more than $9.4 million in earnings upon completion of Thursday's card.
The feature race on Thursday card at Miami Valley was a $42,105 Open Pace, captured by favoured Artscaping in wire-to-wire fashion in 1:49.2. The six-year-old son of American Ideal - Abrokenart Hanover, owned by Rodney Long of Maryland, won his seventh straight appearance and was one of four wins on the card for driver Jeremy Smith and trainer Tessa Perrin.
