Ideal Perception Gate-To-Wire At Western Fair
The new year was rung in at The Raceway at Western Fair District on Monday, Jan. 1 with Ideal Perception headlining the 10-race card after he won the $11,000 Preferred Pace.
Ideal Perception and Anthony Haughan posted panels in :27.4, :57 and 1:25.2 before continuing home to win by 2-1/2 lengths in 1:56.1. Good And Sweet (Daryl Thiessen) finished second with Dalhousie (Colin Kelly) third.
Ideal Perception (American Ideal-Southwind Siren) is a winner of 26 career races and $347,497 in lifetime earnings. Meg Crone trains the seven-year-old horse for April Campbell. He paid $5.10 to win.
Lindsey Kerr sent out three victors on the card including State Of Play ($7.40) driven to victory by Garrett Rooney in 1:59.4 by 1-1/2 lengths, Tuukka Rasp ($53.70) driven to a one0length upset victory in 1:58.3, and Favaro Seelster ($4.60) driven by Rooney to a one-length victory in 2:00.2.
Scott McNiven also racked up a training hat trick with Pebble Beach Pro ($2.80) winning by a neck in 1:58.4 with Jason Ryan holding the lines, It Takes Two ($7.10) overcoming a blanket finish to win by a nose in 1:57.1 with Lorne House, and Mr Cheeseman ($8) driven by House to score by 3-1/2 lengths in 1:58.
