New Start Standardbreds To Host Stallion Auction
New Start Standardbred Adoption has announced that it will be hosting its first annual stallion auction, to be held Feb. 11-15, 2024.
New Start was founded in 2020 with a mission dedicated to rehabilitating and rehoming Standardbred horses, providing them with a second chance at a fulfilling life once their racing days are over. New Start also works to rescue Standardbreds who have found themselves in unimaginable positions.
Beyond the rescue and adoption, New Start prioritizes the lifelong well-being of these amazing retired athletes. Their aftercare initiatives involve providing ongoing support for adopters, sharing educational resources and creating a community network that works to foster responsible horse ownership. New Start will work to find a safe space for a horse no matter their age, physical limitation or where they are coming from.
New Start hopes this stallion auction will become a major annual fundraising initiative for the organization and a chance for breeders and industry participants to showcase their continued support for Standardbred aftercare.
“It’s our first year doing this type of fundraiser but it’s something that we have been asked to look at running for the last couple years. So finally in 2024, we are taking the plunge and it’s an exciting time!” said Kimberly Hale, Founder of New Start Standardbreds.
For stallion owners to donate a breeding, contact New Start via email at [email protected] or through the organization’s Facebook page @NewStartStandardbreds. If you do not have a breeding to donate, but wish to make a monetary donation instead, you can do so through the website newstartstandardbreds.com or by mailing 6046 County Road 50, Campbellford, ON K0L 1L0. Donations are tax deductible.
In an effort to maximize advertising opportunities, New Start asks that breedings should be received by Jan. 15; however, breedings will be accepted right up until the auction.
