No Plan Intended Scores Preferred Hat Trick For Doyle
The Jennifer Doyle stable was firing on all cylinders on Sunday afternoon, Dec. 3 at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park with three wins on the program.
No Plan Intended ($4.80) capped off Doyle's training triple when he prevailed for the third straight week in the featured $3,800 Preferred Pace. Mike McGuigan steered the five-year-old Up The Credit gelding to a 1:55.4 victory over the 'good' track using first-over tactics. Pacesetter Time To Dance (Marc Campbell) had to settle for second, 1-1/4 lengths behind the winner, with Island Beach Boy (Gilles Barrieau) third.
Doyle also earned victories with Winter Blast ($13.30), driven by Jason Hughes, and Mantario ($2.30), driven by David Dowling, during Sunday's 15-race card. All of the Doyle-trained winners are owned by Danny Birt.
The training triple pushed Doyle's seasonal win count to 71 in a career year for the Vernon Bridge, P.E.I. horsewoman. Having sent out 63 of her winners at Charlottetown, she currently ranks third in the local trainer standings, just one win behind Melissa Rennie and three off leader Jason Hughes.
Tango Seelster ($4.30) won the $3,450 Preferred 2 Pace in 1:55.2 for the trainer-driver team of Ken and Clifford Murphy. Owned by Adrian Saunders, the four-year-old Sunshine Beach gelding bested Blood Money (Gilles Barrieau) by 1-3/4 lengths with Burn Out Hanover (Brady Sweet) third.
Hughes had a pair of driving wins on the card and now sits just one win away from the 2,000 career milestone mark.
Campbell was the top driver of the day with three wins as he extended his lead in the dash standings. Howmac Agustus ($3.50) completed his triple, winning the $2,200 Painted Pony Retirement Pace in 1:59 for trainer Kyle Williams.
