Run Director To Stand Stud In 2024
Trot Insider has learned that 2018 O'Brien Award winner Run Director has been retired and will commence full-time stallion duty in 2024.
A son of Kadabra-Keep The Spirit, Run Director posted a 17-5-6 summary from his 57 lifetime starts with $679,390 in earnings and a mark of 1:51.2 taken as a four-year-old at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
As a three-year-old, Run Director was named Canada's Three-Year-Old Male Trotter of the Year after a season with wins in six of 17 races and $436,005 in earnings. His biggest win came in the $225,000 Ontario Sires Stakes Super Final, a 1:54.2 score after a trip parked into the final turn.
A multiple Preferred and Open winner as an older horse, Run Director was race timed in 1:50.3f in his third-place finish to world champion Manchego in the 2020 Spirit of Massachusetts Trot at Plainridge Park.
The 2024 season will be Run Director's first season at full-time stud duty after limited breeding opportunity while racing.
Run Director joins Art Director, Beyond Kronos, Domethatagain, Mister Big, Stormin Normand, Triumphant Caviar, We Will See and Western Vintage on the stallion roster at Abby Stables. His 2024 stud fee has been set at $3,500.
