Meadowlands Announces December Events
Meadowlands Racetrack will host multiple events in December alongside live harness racing, which takes place every Friday and Saturday plus Thursday, Dec. 7 with a 6:20 p.m. post time.
This holiday time of year is perfect for giving back to the local community and the track has made that easy to do with the annual Toys for Tots collection drive. For the sixth year in a row, Quincy Enunwa will be onsite helping collect new, unwrapped toys to donate to SBH Health System. Toys will be collected through Saturday, Dec. 9 at 8:30pm.
A concert by The BStreetBand will kick off the month’s events. This longest running Bruce Springsteen tribute band will play in Trackside on Saturday, Dec. 2. Event doors open at 6 p.m. with the band playing from 7-9 p.m. Cover charge is $20 and can be purchased in advance at PlayMeadowlands.com.
On Friday, Dec. 8, comedy returns to the track. Rory Lutz of Last Stop Comedy and Travis Przybylsi of Netflix and Hulu will host this hilarious night of standup. Isaac Gartenberg and Eric Walsh will join this show with more talent to be announced. Tickets are just $25 and can be purchased at qrco.de/wintercomedy.
Events planned for Saturday, Dec, 9 are sure to interest everyone in the family.
For foodies, the track’s Executive Chef Burnett has crafted a luxurious four-course steakhouse dinner. The menu is $100 per person (plus tax & gratuity) and includes a complimentary glass of champagne, live racing program and $10 betting voucher. For the main course, diners will need to select their cut of steak; choices include a 16 oz ribeye, 8 oz filet, 24 oz porterhouse or a 36 oz tomahawk for two (+$50 additional). For reservations, call 201-The-BigM.
For the die-hard racing fan, author and retired harness trainer Freddie Hudson will be onsite beginning at 6 p.m. for a special book-signing of his latest book, The Superfecta Trial. The book is now available at Amazon in both paperback and hardcover forms. The book covers the true story of 13 of harness racing’s top drivers who were arrested, indicted and put on trial in the national and worldwide media spotlight.
Saturday, Dec. 16 will also be packed with wall to wall events.
The very popular classic rock band, The PastMasters, will play in Trackside. Music will begin at 5:30 p.m. and run until 11 p.m. Trackside is located on the ground floor and full bar and waitress service will be available.
NY Jets great and NFL Hall of Famer Joe Klecko will be at the track signing autographs and talking football with fans from 5:30-6:30 p.m.
UFC fans can then watch UFC 296 Edwards vs. Covington in the second floor Gallery with the main event scheduled for 10 p.m.
