Jayport Hi Class Wins Western Fair Feature
A $9,000 conditioned trot was served up as the feature class on Tuesday's (Nov. 21) card at The Raceway at Western Fair District and Jayport Hi Class delivered a victory in upset fashion.
Greg Dustin took his trainee into post four on the car before settling into fifth on the rail as the wings drew away. After the opening panel in :28.1, the pair embarked on a second-over journey following the cover of Marvin Hagler (Paul Mackenzie). Jayport Hi Class was fifth on the outside at the half in :59.2 before moving into third as the three-quarters was hit in 1:29.4. Still third in the final turn, Jayport Hi Class kicked into a second gear down the lane. He picked off his cover and then continued on to pass the pacesetting Raisealittlehill (Travis Henry). With a final time clocked in 2:01.3, Jayport Hi Class found his victory 2-1/4 lengths the best. Raisealittlehill took second and Massive Profit (Tyler Borth) sped home to take the show spot.
Jayport Hi Class (Muscle Mass-Jayport Forever) is a six-year-old gelding owned by Ted Melchers and Gys Versteegh. He earned his third seasonal victory from nine starts and his 15th career tally while moving his lifetime earnings to $129,079. He paid $15.30 to win at 7-1 odds.
