Sunshine Boy Triples In Fraser Preferred

Sunshine Boy winning at Fraser Downs

Sunshine Boy continued his November streak at Fraser Downs on Friday night (Nov. 17), winning his third straight Preferred Pace in front-end fashion.

Overcoming his outside post assignment through a :27.2 first quarter to top the field, Sunshine Boy opened up two lengths and maintained that leading margin through middle splits of :56 and 1:23.3 en route to a 1:52.2 triumph in rein to Scott Knight. The favourite paid $4.30 to win.

Another streak continued in the Preferred as Mach Steady (John Abbott) caught pocket-sitter Itll Be Fine (Kelly Hoerdt) on the line to secure the runner-up honours for the fifth consecutive week.

Jim Marino trains and co-owns the Sunshine Boy with J J J Stables and Paul Sanders. A 20-time career winner, the five-year-old Sunshine Beach-Betterfrombehind gelding has earned seven victories this year from 22 starts. The lion's share of the $10,000 purse pushed his seasonal earnings to $48,720 and lifetime bankroll over $230,000.
