Tobins Brownie Captures Red Shores Preferred
With a stretch drive swoop, Tobins Brownie got it all in the feature on the Remembrance Day program on Saturday, Nov. 11 at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
David Dowling had his trainee duck at the beginning to get away fourth in the $3,500 Fillies and Mares Preferred while Plain Jane (Adam Merner) commanded the front at the :28.1 opening quarter before releasing Redlandbethanyjean (Brodie MacPhee) to the lead and forcing a three-wide Acefortyfour Dome (Jason Hughes) to sit third. The half was reached in :56.4 over a track rated two seconds off. Acefortyfour Dome came to challenge Redlandbethanyjean first-over at the three-quarters of 1:27.3 before a second-over Tobins Brownie placed herself three-wide for the final quarter and got up for a nose decision in the stretch drive in 1:57.1. Redlandbethanyjean was second while Chelski (Corey MacPherson) closed for third.

Shes Rockandfame captured the first race Remembrance Day Lest We Forget Pace in 1:59.2 with Dowling in the seat for his brother, trainer Michael Dowling. Michael Arnold of Olds, Alta. partners with Amy Lakie of Montague, P.E.I. as owners.
Drivers Hughes and Marc Campbell continue their struggle for control of top driver honours as Campbell won four races on the day to Hughes’ three.
Campbell won with the undefeated Redland Peaches (2:01) for trainer Mike McGuigan, Countercurrency (2:00) for Brady Sweet, Itsuptoyou (1:59.4) for trainer Kevin MacLean and with Brent Campbell trainee New Legacy (2:02) in the $2,900 top trot.
Driver Hughes and trainer Jennifer Doyle teamed up for a pair of wins with Elm Grove Mistress (1:56.3) and Ladylike (2:00.2). Hughes also won with his own Sugar Bowl (1:56.4).
The pair now sit tied for first heading into the afternoon program on Sunday, Nov. 12 slated for 12:30 p.m.
