Swan Legacy Springs Shocker In Meadows Open
Dismissed at 40-1, Swan Legacy pulled off the shocker with an improbable five-wide stretch rally in Wednesday’s (Nov. 8) $21,200 Open Handicap Trot at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.
Sitting next-to-last for most of the mile, Swan Legacy found his best stride when Jack Killeen unleashed him out of the final turn. The six-year-old Swan For All-Ladylike Volo gelding looped the field and triumphed in 1:55, a half length better than Emeralds Legacy, who found a late seam for place. Early leader Romanee Blue Chip completed the ticket.
Todd Keith owns and trains Swan Legacy, who won for the second straight time and pushed his career numbers to 23 victories and $222,901 in earnings.
Dave Palone piloted four winners on the 13-race card — including a pair for trainer Dean Collins — giving Palone 15 victories over the past four programs.
Live harness racing at The Meadows continues on Thursday, with first post at 12:45 p.m.
