'Shadow' And 'Dewey' Take Flamboro Preferreds
Flamboro Downs hosted a pair of $11,000 co-feature Preferreds on the Sunday, Nov. 5 card with Lawless Shadow and Dealin With Dewey taking their respective classes in gate-to-wire fashion.
Lawless Shadow won the Preferred Pace with Tyler Moore holding the lines for Ian Moore.
After posting panels in :27, :56.3 and 1:25, Lawless Shadow held on to win at the wire by three-quarters of a length in 1:53.1. Respect Out Flag (Travis Cullen) pocketed second and Rock And Twist (Brett MacDonald) took third.
Dr. Ian Moore co-owns the son of Shadow Play and the Bettors Delight mare Ladycino with R G McGroup Ltd, Serge Savard and Frank Cannon. Lawless Shadow moved his seasonal win count to six and career tally to 15. He moved closer to the million-dollar mark and now boasts $991,299 in career earnings. As the bettors' choice, he returned $2.70 to win.
Dealin With Dewey and Jason Ryan took the Preferred Trot for trainer Sara Baillargeon.
Leaving from the rail, Dealin With Dewey took the early lead and kept going through panels in :28.3, :58.4 and 1:28 before winning by a half-length in 1:57.3. Andy Over (Ed Hensley) and Sicario (B. MacDonald) charged hard in the stretch for a blanket finish, but the pair had to settle for second and third, respectively.
Baillargeon owns the five-year-old gelded son of Wheeling N Dealin and the Deweycheatumnhowe mare Rockin With Dewey as he earned his seventh win of the season and 11th career victory. Dealin With Dewey moved his career sum to $230,706. He paid $3.90 to win.
