Jet Rock Captures Rideau Preferred
Jet Rock and Robert Shepherd honoured their status as the bettors' choice in the featured $10,000 Preferred Handicap Pace on Sunday, Nov. 5 at Rideau Carleton Raceway.
Dylans Bank (Jimmy Gagnon) was the designated pacesetter for the mile and clicked out two panels in :26.2 and :55.3 while the favoured Jet Rock sat in fourth along the pylons. With 11-1/2 lengths to make up, the Isabelle Darveau trainee started chipping away at the distance en route to the three-quarters in 1:21.4. Going into the final turn, Jet Rock had narrowed the margin between himself and the leader to just three lengths. Pocket-sitting The Light Speed (Guy Gagnon) threw his own name into the mix in the stretch as the three tussled for the victory. At the wire, Jet Rock had earned the title by three-quarters of a length in 1:51.4. The Light Speed took second while Dylans Bank earned the show spot.
Jet Rock (sired by Rock N Roll Heaven) is owned by Ecurie Csl and Les Ecuries Dorleans Inc. The seven-year-old gelding earned his sixth win of the season and 33rd career victory. He moved his bankroll to $341,751. As the even odds favourite, he paid $4 to win.
