Dreamfair Zenfire Best In Red Shores Preferred
A perfect pocket-ride turned into victory for Dreamfair Zenfire in the Saturday (Nov. 4) afternoon Fillies and Mares Preferred Pace at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
Marc Campbell placed the Brent Campbell trainee in the pocket behind race favourite Tobins Brownie (Driven by David Dowling) at the start in the $3,500 feature and followed along through splits of :27.2, :57.2 and 1:27. Dreamfair Zenfire shook loose in the final quarter to win by two-and-a-quarter lengths in 1:55.3 for owners Ryan and Everett MacLeod of Souris. Tobins Brownie was second ahead of Acefortyfourdome (Jason Hughes).
Campbell had three wins on the day to now sit two victories back of leading driver Hughes. Campbell also won with Plain Jane (1:55.3) for trainer Brent Campbell and with Shakemeup Hanover (1:56.1) for trainer Morgan Sheppard.
Sheppard had a pair of victories from her Brackley stable on the day as driver Adam Merner put a new lifetime record on Doc Darryl in race seven winning in 1:55.2.
Corey MacPherson tripled up on the day as a driver as he opened the card up with an off-the-pace score for Spack Jarrow (1:56.3) at 7-1 odds for trainer Raymond White. Evil Vintage (1:56.3) got up the inside in the final strides to win race four for trainer-driver MacPherson then Imalookertoo was free-wheeling off the front to win race five in 1:55.1 from the Jeff Holmes barn to complete the MacPherson hat-trick.
