Workinitonbroadway Steals Show In Leamington Preferred
Workinitonbroadway received rave reviews, scoring in the $5,500 Preferred 4 Trot highlighting the 10-race Sunday, Oct. 29 card at Leamington Raceway.
Leaving from post three in the scratched down field of six, driver Donald Rankin wasted no time getting Workinitonbroadway to the front, crossing over to the pylons in front to the quarter pole in :28 under pressure from Jooner and Dennis Duford to his outside. The battle continued to rage on the lead as the tandem battled to the half with Workinitonbroadway leading to that station by a half-length in :57.4. Jooner began to retreat in the third quarter, however, Workinitonbroadway would soon be under fire from race favourite Duke Deo and Nicholas Steward as they made a three-wide brush to engage the leader at three-quarters in 1:28.3.
Entering the final turn, the top two began to seperate from the field as the stage was set for a deep-stretch duel. Workinitonbroadway battled gamely in the lane with a :31.3 final quarter to fend off a valiant Duke Deo by a half-length on the wire in 2:00.1. Playfull Elegance and Robert Doyle finished third.
The victory was the fifth in 28 seasonal starts for Workinitonbroadway, who is also trained by Rankin and co-owned along with Chris Hadrian. The seven-year-old gelded son of Broadway Hall-Working Girl owns 42 career victories and sports lifetime earnings of $349,408.
