Exotic Races Attract Record Crown At Dayton
With a record crowd in attendance, Dayton Raceway hosted its inaugural camel and ostrich races in addition to its regular harness races on Saturday, Oct. 28.
Exhibition races featured camels Humpty Dumpty, Sahara, Pumpkin and Sandy as well as ostriches Waka The Flocka, The Godfeather and Oreo.
During regular racing action, Brett Miller, Dan Noble and Jeremy Smith all had hat tricks to lead all drivers for wins on the 14-race card.
Miller kicked things off in the opener with Expresso ($7.80) for trainer Jim Mullinix and found his way back to the winner's circle after taking the third race with Anns Marina Delray ($12.60) for Cassidy Whitton and the 12th race with Aint She Perfect ($12) for trainer Ron Alexander.
Noble earned his first win in the fourth race with the Alexander trainee, Coach Kerri ($11.80), then turned a single into a double in race eight with Sunrise Sweetie ($8) for trainer Shawn Barker II. Noble then turned the double into a triple winning the 13th race with Im Rockin Country ($3) for Phillip Groves
Smith scored victories with Southern Panda ($14.20) for Mike Polhamus in the sixth race, Northmedo Mission ($9.40) in the 11th race for Mike Medors and later took the 14th race finale with More The Merrier ($3.40) for Larry Six.
