Plain Jane Favoured In CDP Thursday Finale
With the inside post advantage, Plain Jane will take on a solid crew of pacing mares in the Thursday evening finale at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The capital oval has an 11-dash presentation starting at 6 p.m. on Thursday evening with the finale being a $3,000 fillies and pares pacing dash.
Plain Jane controls the pylons from post one in that event with Marc Campbell in the driver’s seat for trainer Brent Campbell and owners Leigh and Faith Gavin. The five-year-old daughter of Shadow Play has been razor sharp again in 2023 with nine wins and $21,554 earned from 22 starts.
Redlandbethanyjean will look for revenge from last week when she went down to defeat by the hooves of Better Be In Love and Elm Grove Mistress. Brodie MacPhee will drive Redlandbethanyjean from post two on Thursday while sporting a perfect top-three record in her last six starts. Better Be In Love, last week’s winner, has post seven this week with Corey MacPherson aboard while Elm Grove Mistress (Jason Hughes) has post four. Also in the finale field are You Aint Dolly (Kenny Arsenault), Ubettimagoodone (Gilles Barrieau) and Ms Moyse (Adam Merner).
The "Post Time Picks" like Plain Jane on top: “Take a peek at the line two back where Plain Jane bossed it from the get go and was just nipped at the wire. We’re betting Campbell will be gunning from here and could go right down the road.”
Race 10 is the $3,100 Open Trot featuring freshly minted Island Oceans Trot champion Jessiejesorjessica as the top selection from post five for driver David Dowling, trainer Jennifer Doyle and owner Danny Birt. Her main competitors are listed as New Legacy (Marc Campbell) from post one and fellow Doyle trainee Glider Man (Hughes) from post four.
