Northville Open To Coalford Bythesea
The $9,500 Open Pace highlighted the Saturday, Oct. 21 program at Northville Downs with Coalford Bythesea and driver Justin Irvine winning by open lengths in 1:55.1.
Coalford Bythesea and Irvine left for the early lead, crossing right over off of the car and tripping the beam to the opening quarter in :28.1. The team went on to fight off all challengers to a half in :56.2, three-quarters in 1:25.2 and they opened up down the lane to win in 1:55.1 over a hard-charging Catch Me Conrad, who was second, and Skyway Rockatop, the lone mare, hanging on for the show dough.
Picking up his 11th career win, Coalford Bythesea (Downbytheseaside – Stormy Novel) is owned and trained by Gerald Malady.
Justin Irvine, Art McIlmurray and Charles Taylor all had driving doubles. Gerald Malady had a training double on the night as well.
Northville Downs resumes racing on Friday, Oct. 27 with a first post time of 7 p.m. Friday is dollar night at The Ville with $1 pop, live programs and popcorn, $2 hot dogs and beer and hamburger and cheeseburger specials. Northville Downs races every Friday and Saturday night through Nov. 25 with a 7 p.m. post time.
