Workin Ona Mystery Overpowers Open Foes
Hammered down to 3-5, Workin Ona Mystery looked every bit the dominant force, throwing down a :50.4 back half while first over on a “good” surface to capture the $19,200 Open Pace on Friday, Oct. 20 at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.
Once Dave Palone sent the millionaire son of Captaintreacherous-Dragons Tale after the leader, Wild Wild Western, the race for win was over. Workin Ona Mystery scored in 1:50.4, two lengths better than Patrikthepiranha A in the Lightning Lane, with Elliot Moose third.
Ron Burke trains the winner, who boosted his gaudy bankroll over the $1.23 million mark for Burke Racing Stable, Milton Leemen, Alan Keith and Wingfield Brothers LLC.
Mike Wilder piloted six winners and Palone five while Burke enjoyed a four-bagger on the 13-race card. With Palone’s Thursday haul, he’s now collected 10 wins over the past two days.
Live harness racing at The Meadows resumes Wednesday when the program features a $323.52 carryover in the Pick 5. First post is 12:45 p.m.
