Joygo Finds Good Spot To Win Meadows Top Trot
Joygo slipped off the cones to follow live first-over cover, brushed through the lane and captured Wednesday’s (Oct. 18) $21,200 Open Handicap Trot at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.
Once Justin Walters found that golden spot for Joygo behind Stay Close, the four-year-old Nuncio-Eleventeen gelding did the rest himself, holding off the Ron Burke-trained duo of Black Hope and Jeffery P, both rallying from well back, to triumph at 9-2 in 1:54.
Lance Barber trains Joygo, who pushed his career bankroll to $120,469, and owns with Sonya Barber.
Ronnie Wrenn Jr. collected four wins and Aaron Merriman three on the 13-race card.
Live harness racing at The Meadows continues on Thursday, Oct. 19 when the 13-race program features a $1,342.93 carryover in the Early Pentafecta (race four). First post is 12:45 p.m.
