Golden Terror Stays Consistent In Buffalo
Ontario-sired Golden Terror kept up his consistent record since heading south of the border for new connections early this year with a victory in the $10,000 Open Pace at Buffalo Raceway on Saturday night
.
Golden Terror ($10.60), leaving from Post 7 in the field of eight and driven by last year’s U.S. dash champion Dan Noble, settled in fourth as Redford Hall (Kevin Cummings) hit the quarter-pole in :29.1. Eventual third-place finisher Fantasy Pan (John Cummings, Jr.) cut the rest of the fractions, :58 to the half, and 1:27.2 to the three-quarters. As the field hit the top of the stretch, it turned out to be a two-horse race between the winner and My Gift To You (Jim McNeight). With a sharp :28.3 last quarter-mile, Golden Terror prevailed by one and a half lengths at the wire in a season's best 1:56.3.
It was the third win this season for Golden Terror, who has hit the board in all eight races since arriving in New York. The five-year-old Western Terror gelding out of the Artiscape mare Bell Amis Love is conditioned by the meet's leading trainer John Mungillo for local owners Terri and David Esposito. The $5,000 share of the winning purse put Golden Terror’s season bankroll at $24,609 and lifetime earnings at $96,001.
