Fashion Frenzie Wires Mohawk Preferred; McNair Hits $80 Million
Fashion Frenzie made his way to the winner's circle at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Monday (Oct. 16) after leading gate-to-wire to win the $35,000 Preferred Trot.
From the outside in the field of six, Louis-Philippe Roy and the Richard Moreau student shot diagonally towards the top. Once in command, Fashion Frenzie never looked back as he clicked out fractions in :27.2, :56 and 1:25.1. He kept going down the lane to win by one length at the wire in 1:52.2. Amigo Volo (Doug McNair) finished second and HP Mama B (Tyler Borth) was third.
Ecurie Francis Richard Inc., Mario Bourgea, Pierre Guillemette and Sylvain Richard co-own the five-year-old gelded son of Archangel and the Striking Sahbra mare Striking Fashion. He has won six of his 11 starts this season, producing $202,856 in seasonal earnings. In his career, Fashion Frenzie owns a record of 24-5-0 in 39 starts with $1,158,787 earned. He paid $5.10 to win as the 2-1 second choice.
With a win, three seconds and three fifth-place finishes, Doug McNair sent his driving earnings over the $80 million career milestone. McNair has 4,428 career victories with 207 trips to the winner's circle this year and nearly $5.3 million banked so far. He currently sits fifth in the top 10 drivers by Canadian money for this year and eighth in the season leaders by wins. The Guelph, Ont. resident is third in the driving rankings at Mohawk with 192 wins.
