Sunshine Boy Triumphs In Fraser Preferred
Sunshine Boy sat patiently in the pocket before sweeping to the front and making his way to victory in the $10,000 Preferred Pace at Fraser Downs on Friday (Oct. 13) evening.
Off as the even odds favourite, Sunshine Boy and Scott Knight got away in the pocket behind Itll Be Fine (Kelly Hoerdt) as the first panel was timed in :26.2. After that split, Knight tugged on his right line and sent Sunshine Boy to the top where they clicked out two more panels in :55 and 1:23.1 before going on to win by a length in 1:52. Itll Be Fine finished second and Waitin Ona River (Kevin Anderson) completed the ticket.
Jim Marino trains the five-year-old Sunshine Beach gelding for his fourth win this season and 17th career victory. Owned by J J J Stables, Paul Sanders, and Jim Marino, Sunshine Boy now banks $214,128 in earnings. He paid $4.00 to win.
