Morrill, Silent Swing Steam Up The Spa
It was another big night at Saratoga Casino and Raceway for driver Jim Morrill, Jr. The veteran reinsman, who drove five winners on the season’s opening day last Sunday, tallied another seven wins
on the Saturday (March 10) card.
The 47-year-old driver has won at a higher percentage than any driver in the country in recent years and when he comes to the Spa, his presence is always felt.
On Saturday, Morrill did what he couldn’t get done last week with classy pacer Silent Swing (Northern Luck). The 10-year-old veteran moved out to the lead early on and scored a sizzling fast 1:52.2 mile, the fastest of the young season at the Spa.
For Silent Swing, the win was his 53rd lifetime in a career in which he has earned more than $1.8 million.
Morrill ran off a string of six straight victories on the Saturday card, including a sweep of the Pick-4, and made seven trips to the winner’s circle in total on the night.
