Century Mach Pockets Fraser Preferred Win
In the Thursday (Oct. 12) evening nightcap at Fraser Downs, Century Mach used a pocket trip to take the $10,000 Fillies and Mares Preferred Handicap Pace.
Western Summit (Scott Knight) took the early lead to the quarter in :27.3 while followed by Century Mach (Kelly Hoerdt) in the pocket. The top two remained unchanged as the half was clicked in :56.4 and three-quarters in 1:25.1. Off the turn, Century Mach bounced off the pylons and sprinted down the centre of the track to win by 1-3/4 lengths in 1:53.4. Western Summit finished second and Moosette (Brandon Campbell) grabbed third.
Trained and owned by Hoerdt, the five-year-old mare earned her fifth win of the season and 24th career tally. She moved her career bankroll to $168,348. Off at 3-1, Century Mach paid $8.30 to win.
