Champions To Be Crowned Sunday At Red Shores

Performances to be remembered for the ages will come during the Atlantic Breeders Crown Championship card on Sunday, Oct. 8 at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

The finals for the 2023 Atlantic Sires Stakes season headline the day with a 16-dash presentation starting at 12:30 p.m. 

Newly minted Atlantic record holder Dusty Lane Wee is the top choice in the $15,000 two-year-old trotting final in the second race for driver Marc Campbell, trainer Lenny Myers and owners Ronnie Gass and Garry MacDonald. 

Irish Ray will look to reignite his win streak in the fourth race, the $15,000 Atlantic Breeders Crown for three-year-old trotters. Campbell trains and drives the son of Muscle Through It for owner Three Wisemen Stable of Kingston, P.E.I. after the colt had his win streak snapped at 17 his last start. 

Race 7 is the first $25,000 pacing final as Zendayas Firstlady will look to deliver in the two-year-old pacing filly event from post three for driver Myles Heffernan Sr., trainer Stephen Quinn and owner John Quinn. The pacing events are presented by MacRae’s Backhoe & Trucking. 

The heavyweights will battle in the $25,000 two-year-old pacing colt Atlantic Breeders Crown in Race 9 with rail starter Tobins Chester (Jason Hughes), Merigo Magic (Adam Merner) with post two and Jackies Boy (Heffernan) from post five. 

Our Girl Annie (Corey MacPherson) will search for win number seven of the season as she tries to defend her rookie title in the three-year-old pacing filly final for trainer Eddy Doucette and owners Blaine, Jessica and Jennifer Thibeau. 

Malignity takes his nine-race win streak into Race 13 in the $25,000 Atlantic Breeders Crown for three-year-old pacing colts. Paul Langille trains and drives for owners Debbie Francis and Rosanne Langille. 

New Legacy (Campbell) gets top billing in Race 6, the $12,600 Island Trot Challenge Series Final, presented by The Fox Group.

Race 14 is the Steven & Joe MacRae Memorial Open Pacing Mares final with $15,500 on the line. 

The $35,000 Premier’s Cup final will finish off the card with a field of eight Invitational stars.
