Euchred Rebounds In Inverness Feature
A trailing tier start may have kept him out of contention last Sunday, but Euchred bounced back for the win with his nose on the gate this time out in the weekly feature at Inverness Raceway.
Trained and driven by Walter Walker, veteran pacer Euchred earned his 81st career victory, holding off last week's winner Rotten Ronnie in the $1,800 Winners Over.
Euchred left from a more favourable post two -- where he's started his three prior winning miles from this year at Inverness -- and kept 1-9 outside assignee Rotten Ronnie (Redmond Doucet) at bay through fractions of :29.3, :59.4 and 1:29.3 to prevail by a quarter-length in 1:59.1. Risin Horizon (Keith Legge) rounded out the top three finishers off a ground-saving trip.
The 11-year-old Shadow Play gelding has won two of his last three starts and now has five wins from 13 races this season for local owner Kayla Habicht Walker. He paid $13.90 to win.
