American Risk Goes Back-To-Back In Woodstock
Make that two top-class wins in seven days for American Risk, prevailing once again during the Saturday, Sept. 30 card of harness racing at Connell Park in Woodstock, N.B.
Mark Haig picked up the driving assignment on the seven-year-old in Saturday's $2,500 Winners Over Pace, and in a repeat of their last pairing on June 3, the duo wired their rivals by a comfortable margin.
Haig hustled American Risk out from post four, landed on the lead and then didn't back from there. After fractions of :28.2, :58.2 and 1:28, American Risk widened his two-length cushion to more than five lengths by the time he hit the wire in 1:57. Just as the public predicted, second choice J J Breanne (John Davidson) finished second with third choice Rollin Doubles (Stephen Trites) rounding out the top trio.
George Rennison trains American Risk (American Ideal - Kissing Bandit) for the Risky Bizz Group of Truro, N.S. The gelding picked up his fourth win of the season and 32nd lifetime, lifting his career earnings to $115,082. American Risk returned $3.40 on a $2 win wager.
