Duke Lavictoire Triumphs In Rideau Preferred
Duke Lavictoire made every pole a winning one en route to a three-length victory in the $10,000 Preferred Handicap Trot at Rideau Carleton Raceway on Thursday (Sept. 28) evening.
Pascal Berube and the Andre Lachance trainee stopped the buzzer at each fraction in :27.3, :57 and 1:25.1 before rounding towards home with an extended lead on the field. Duke Lavictoire crossed the wire as the winner in 1:55.3. Favoured Black Tie Bash (Robert Shepherd) closed sharply in the lane with a :29.1 last quarter, but was unable to catch the leader and had to settle for second. Emma Town Bud (Pierre Bovay) was third.
Suzanne Lavictoire owns the five-year-old Royalty For Life gelding as he earned his fourth seasonal tally and 21st career victory. Duke Lavictoire moved his career bankroll to $120,741. He paid $7.90 to win.
Guy Gagnon drove three of his trainees to victory on the card including wins with Greystone Treasure ($10.60) by 1-1/2 lengths in 1:53.3, Epic Dreamer ($2.40) by three-quarters of a length in 1:58.2, and Beach Journey ($7.60) by a head in 1:55.2. Gagnon sits seven wins behind a 6,000-win career driving milestone.
