Vino Louie Bests Summerside Feature
Leading at every call, Vino Louie lived up to his pari-mutuel promise in the Tuesday (Sept. 26) evening feature at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.
Brady Sweet was in the seat for the $3,350 feature score as he teamed the Jeff Holmes trainee to a 1:54.4 victory over Soccer Hanover (Corey MacPherson) and Woodmere Ideal Art (David Dowling).
Vino Louie is owned by Hardy Mill Stable and Ken and Glenn Hardie, all of Nova Scotia.
Trainer Bernard McCallum brought a pair of victories back home to Nova Scotia as two-year-old Artspeak colt The Vicar won the opener in 1:58.1 to remain undefeated through two lifetime outings with the trainer in the bike. Worth Repeating (Paul Langille) won race three from the McCallum barn in 2:00.1.
Langille had three wins on the evening, also winning with Brookdale Jim (1:57) for trainer Phil Sizer and Havarti (1:56.2) from his own barn.
Driver Dowling had three wins on the evening, including Too Much For You (1:58.4) for trainer Earl Watts, Starshipzodiac (1:57.1) from the Reece Williams barn and Youremyhearthrob (1:58.1) from the trainer’s own stable.
The night featured a trio of P.E.I. Matinee Challenge Series finals with Freedom Delight winning the A division in 2:01 with Zac Noye driving for the mare he shares in ownership with Mary Jean Noye.
Noye also won the D division with R Es Nancy in a 2:22 trip for Dana Sweet. The B division saw a 2:03.4 victory by ATM Treasure and owner-driver Carson Wilkie of Stratford, P.E.I. to capture the Department of Agriculture trophy.
The total wager on the program was $84,102.
