Moreau Trainees On Display At Mohawk
Richard Moreau sent four winners to the track on Monday (Sept. 25) evening at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
Military Secret outshined his stablemates with a 1:50.4 victory in a $12,000 claiming handicap pace.
Louis-Philippe Roy and Military Secret drew post five in the field scratched down to nine pacers. As the wings drew away, Century Gigalo (Ondrej Dois) rocketed to the top and posted the first two panels in :25.3 and :54.1. Military Secret followed the pocket trip to the half before taking over. The Captaintreacherous gelding hit the three-quarters in 1:23 before opening up to win by 3-1/2 lengths. Mach Art In Motion (Sylvain Filion) finished second and Mach Impact was third.
Military Secret has had eight wins in 13 starts this season and 23 career victories. He boasts $219,363 in career earnings. Claimed out of the fifth race for a tag of $14,000, the seven-year-old gelding moved to the ownership of Sean Downey. He paid $2.50 to win.
Hurrikane Cheyenne (Always B Miki-Idyllic Beach) won the Monday opener, worth $18,000, in a career-best 1:53.2 by one length with Roy in the bike for Moreau and owner Jeremy Marcotte. The three-year-old gelding earned his third seasonal and third career win. He paid $7.40 to win.
New Shooter (All Bets Off-Pangoon) won every step of the $18,000 third race condition pace, finishing on top in 1:52.4 by a neck with Roy piloting the winning drive for Moreau and owners Brady Doyle and Dan Belliveau. The three-year-old gelding earned his eighth win in 13 starts this season and his eighth career tally. He paid $4.30 to win.
Marshall Zhukov (Shadow Play-Saffron Seelster) won a stretch battle to prevail by a neck in 1:51.4 with Doug McNair holding the lines for Moreau and owner Michel Lagace. The three-year-old colt earned his fifth victory of the season and 12 career victory. He paid $5.70 to win.
