Vino Louie Seeks Redemption In Summerside
The top pacers return to Red Shores Summerside for the Tuesday evening (Sept. 26) top class pace with Vino Louie favoured over Sauble Attack in a competitive field.
The Prince County oval has 13 dashes starting at 6 p.m. with the $3,350 featured pace lining up in race 12.
Vino Louie was all systems go last week but go involved in an early speed duel to thwart his chances at victory. The Governor’s Plate finalist was fifth last week after parking out Woodmere Ideal Art to a :26.3 opener. Brady Sweet jumps back aboard the Jeff Holmes trainee this week with rail control in the featured pace as the morning line favourite for owners Hardy Mill Stable and Ken and Glenn Hardie of Nova Scotia.
Woodmere Ideal Art holds down post five this Tuesday with David Dowling in the bike for trainer Sifroi Melanson. Sauble Attack is the 3-1 second choice with post six from the Paul Biggar barn with Ken Murphy assigned to drive after a second-place finish last week in the feature.
Post two will have the Leith Waite-trained Soccer Hanover with six straight on-the-board finishes to his credit. Regular pilot Corey MacPherson is listed to drive.
Rusty Riley (Paul Langille) will ship in from Truro Raceway in Nova Scotia and get post three while the O’Leary, P.E.I.-based Flowersonthebeach (Dale Spence) has drawn post four.
The "Backstretch Beat" likes Vino Louie to deliver from post one: “Vino Louie went a tough opening quarter in his latest but he has rail control today and all kinds of respect after showing his gate speed. We say he goes to the lead and can only see the field in his rearview mirror at the finish.”
The evening program also features a trio of P.E.I. Matinee finals after races one, two and four. The fields consist of horses that have earned points during the summer at the Island’s matinee tracks during the Challenge Series.
