Six In A Row For Sheplaysforkeeps
Sheplaysforkeeps moved her win streak to six in a row after winning the Saturday (Sept. 23) evening finale at Flamboro Downs.
Colin Kelly and the Raphael Bourassa trainee got away third in the field of eight claiming mares as Ok Jasmine (Paul Mackenzie) posted an opening panel in :28.2. Kelly pulled his right line and sent the mare first over as they approached the half in :58. The mare continued on the outside, not making up any ground as Ok Jasmine clicked out the three-quarters in 1:26.1. In a blanket finish, Sheplaysforkeeps came out on top to win by a head in 1:55.2. Beauty Is Blind was second with Ok Jasmine third.
Bourassa co-owns Sheplaysforkeeps with Kim Ebacher. With the winner's share of the $6,500 purse, the six-year-old Betterthancheddar mare moved her seasonal sum to $48,500 and career bankroll to $119,383. She paid $3 to win.
