Stallion News On Tattoo Artist
On the cusp of a major earnings milestone, details have been revealed regarding stallion arrangements for Tattoo Artist.
Syndicate Manager Eric Cherry announced on Thursday, Sept. 21 that O'Brien Award winner Tattoo Artist p,5,1:47.1 ($2,961,608) will stand stud in New Jersey beginning in 2024.
A son of Meadowlands Pace winner Hes Watching p,3,1:46.4 ($1,129,215) and out of Breeders Crown winner Stylish Artist p,3,1:51 ($940,022), Tattoo Artist has raced at the top level from his two-year-old season through this year’s campaign as a six-year-old.
At two, he won three legs of the Ontario Sires Stakes Gold Series and the OSS Super Final followed by a championship year as a three-year-old with victories in the Simcoe, four legs of the OSS Gold Series and a second-place finish in the North America Cup. As an older horse, Tattoo Artist captured numerous Invitationals, the Joe Gerrity Jr. Memorial at Saratoga and the 2023 Canadian Pacing Derby in 1:47.4s over Little Brown Jug winner Bythemissal and Allywag Hanover. His 1:48.2f blowout win at Scioto in the $260,000 Ewart Memorial in his latest start boosted his career earnings to just shy of $3 million.
“I’ve had Tattoo Artist all his life and the fact that he’s in razor sharp form at age six after 89 starts is remarkable,” said partnership spokesman Eric Cherry. “He has all the tools for a successful stallion career – durability, extreme early speed, soundness and grit. I plan on breeding many of my best broodmares to him.”
Tentative plans are to finish his career with starts at Woodbine Mohawk Park this week in an Invitational, the Dayton Pacing Derby, the Breeders Crown at Hoosier and FanDuel/TVG at The Meadowlands.
Tattoo Artist is expected to enter the stud barn at Deo Volente Farms in 2024. Syndication details are being finalized. If you have any questions on purchasing shares or breeding a mare, please contact Eric Cherry at 561-212-5700.
