Can Melody Maker Reignite Summerside Streak?
A pair of top-notch female pacers will take on Prince County’s best in the Tuesday evening feature at Red Shores at Summerside Raceway.
The P.E.I. oval has 14 dashes starting at 6 p.m., with the $3,400 featured pace lining up in race 13.
D Gs Elsa drops out of the Fillies & Mares Preferred ranks and gets saddled with post five in the top event with Ken Murphy picking up the catch-drive for trainer Luke Burke and owner Robin Burke of Brackley, P.E.I. The nine-year-old daughter of Shanghai Phil was fourth her last start against some top mares then second the start before in the Birthplace Of Confederation Open Mares Consolation.
Three-year-old pacing filly Nannie Bernice makes the jump to the top class with post two. She hails from the Janice Hubbard barn with David Dowling set to drive the daughter of Artspeak.
Melody Maker is the morning line favourite in the dash with post three for the team of driver Dale Spence and trainer Greg MacInnis. The Hes Watching gelding has been hot all season in Summerside with seven wins, two seconds and a third on the campaign.
Iron tough campaigner Rusty Riley (Paul Langille) has rail control at 4-1 morning line odds while Frontier Cruise (Corey MacPherson) is second-favourite after facing Stash It Away his last start.
The "Backstretch Beat" thinks Melody Maker will return to the winner’s circle on Tuesday: “Melody Maker has yet to reignite his win streak but has hit the board every week even in defeat. There is no question he knows this track and he knows how to win. Watch out.”
Race 7 is the City Of Summerside Pace with Yaris Seelster (MacPherson) looking for his first win of the season from post two. The seven-year-old son of Mach Three has four starts so far this season after having 18 months off since racing in Ontario. Michel Langis of New Brunswick trains the 10-time winner for partners Roland Leblanc and Richard Gaudet. His main foes are slated as Heart And Guts (Devon Wallace) and Youremyhearthrob (Dowling).
