Updated: Pick 5 Carryovers Thursday, Saturday At Yonkers
This week's seeded $5 minimum Pick 5 at MGM Yonkers Raceway was not hit on Wednesday night's (Sept. 6) program, so there will be a carryover of $19,100.75 in the sequence starting in Thursday night's (Sept. 7) fifth race. This carryover amount is combined with $15,000 of seed money from the SOA of New York to make the total "free" money available $34,100.
Additionally, the same amount of $19,100.75, along with another $15,000 in seed money, is now in the Pick 5 pool for Saturday's (Sept. 9) MGM Yonkers International Trot program. There will be a mandatory payout of the wager on that card.
The "Lucky" Pick 5 is a non-Jackpot bet and offers a takeout rate of 20 per cent.
MGM Yonkers Raceway will race tomorrow night at 7 p.m. and then will be dark on Friday (Sept. 8) in preparation for Saturday's blockbuster that includes the $1 million MGM Yonkers International Trot, two $250,000 invitationals -- the Aria for pacers and the Robert Miecuna for trotters -- and the eight $225,000 New York Sire Stakes finals for two and three-year-olds of both sexes and gaits. Post time on Saturday is 12:15 p.m. (EDT).
Update: In the original story posted on Wednesday, Yonkers reported that, with the carryover in place, the seeded aspect of the wager was negated. On Thursday morning, Yonkers announced an update that the pools for Thursday and Saturday will be seeded with $15,000 on top of any carryover money, as reflected in the revised story above.
