Wild Dream Men Looks To Stay Perfect Sunday
Undefeated Wild Dream Men will try for his fourth straight victory Sunday, Aug. 27 at Hippodrome 3R, headlining one of five divisions of the Future Stars Series for two-year-old trotters and pacers.
This is the third and final preliminary round of the series. Afterwards the top eight point earners will return to 3R for Super Sunday, Sept. 10, where they will race in their respective finals for $55,000.
A two-year-old gelding by Kadabra, Wild Dream Men has yet to taste defeat in his young career as he even won his lone qualifying race before entering the Future Stars Series.
Trained and driven by Guy Gagnon, Wild Dream Men is owned by prominent Quebec breeders and owners Catheline Pelletier and Chantal Gravel.
Starting from post six in the the second race $10,000 division for the colts and geldings, Wild Dream Men is the 6-5 morning line favourite. He raced last week at 3R, scoring a two and one-quarter length victory in 2:02.3, his fastest winning time yet for the young trotter.
The filly trotters hit the track in the 11th race, a $10,000 division headlined by Kenogami Queen, who has won two of her three starts this season.
The daughter of Wheeling N Dealin will start from post five for driver Stephane Brosseau and trainer Jean-Francois Reid. Reid bred and co-owns the filly with his wife, Marie Claude and Mario Menard.
Kenogami Queen has won her last two starts, both in the series, the fastest victory in 2:04.3.
Another undefeated starter, Ronda Du Lac is featured in the seventh race, a $10,000 division for two-year-old pacing fillies.
She has won both her starts in the series for driver Pierre-Luc Roy and goes from post eight. A daughter of Shadow Play, Ronda Du Lac has a mark of 2:00 and was bred and is co-owned by Louis-Philippe Roy with Maude Larouche, Michel Letarte and Jean Allaire.
Her main rivals will be Breedingbankrupsy (post four), Ma Diva (post five) and the entry of The Heart Valley (post two) and Wicked Discovery (post six).
There are two $7,500 divisions of the Future Stars Series for the pacing colts and geldings.
The first division is the fifth race headed by Boomboom Tonight, who has won two of his four starts for driver Marc Belanger. The son of Sportswriter is trained by Elisabeth Pothier, who bred and owns the gelding. He has a record of 1:59.3 taken just last week.
The second division is the ninth race featuring two return winners in the field. Both Gold Nugget from post two and Love That Miramont in post five captured their respective tests last time out.
Gold Nugget goes from post two for driver Jocelyn Gendron. The son of Sportswriter is trained by Guy Roy for owner-breeder Richard Desrosiers while Love That Miramont starts from post five for driver Jean Bernard Renaud. Another son of Sportswriter, he is trained and was bred and owned by Michele Raymond.
