Vernon To Host NYSS Freshman Trotting Fillies Friday
Vernon Downs will play host to two divisions of the New York Sire Stakes (NYSS) for two-year-old trotting fillies on Friday, Aug. 25.
Seven Year Itch (Joe Bongiorno) is the even-money morning line favourite in the $51,500 first division. The Chapter Seven-Royal Lady filly is trained by Vernon Beachy. She has two wins in five career starts including a NYSS win at Monticello.
The Tony Alagna-trained Sadbirdstillsing (Tyler Buter) is the 2-1 second choice in the first division. The Chapter Seven-Fade Into You filly has finished second in both of her NYSS starts.
Sister Mary Maude (pictured above) has five straight victories including four NYSS wins and is the 4-5 morning line favorite in the $51,500 second division. Ron Burke trains the Crazy Wow-Perfect Mass filly, who will be driven by Joe Bongiorno. She got her NYSS wins at Buffalo, Saratoga, Tioga Downs and Yonkers.
R Melina (Tyler Buter) is the 8-5 second choice in the second division. The Chapter Seven-Goodtogo Hanover filly is trained by John Butenschoen. She has won three of her four lifetime starts including NYSS wins at Tioga Downs and Yonkers.
The 13-race card on Friday starts at 4 p.m.
