Irish Ray

Inverness Raceway will host the two and three-year-old trotters on Wednesday, Aug. 23 for their last Atlantic Sire Stakes (ATSS) leg of the season in three divisions of the PEIHRIA sponsored trotting events.

Two divisions of two-year-old trotters will go in Races 2 and 4 racing for a purse of $8,760

Dusty Lane Wee (Marc Campbell) is the morning line favourite in the second race with Gettin Tipsy (Mike McGuigan) and Osprey Explosion (Jason Hughes) rounding out the top three favourites. Dusty Lane Wee is coming in off a win in Atlantic Sires Stakes action at Red Shores Charlottetown last week during Old Home Week and sits at top of the divisional point standings in the Atlantic Sires Stakes program. The E L Rocket filly is trained by Lenny Myers and owned by Garry MacDonald of Dundas, Ont. and breeder Ronnie Gass of Cornwall, P.E.I. Gettin Tipsy also won her last start during Old Home week in ATSS.

Race 4 has Rocket Blast (Jason Hughes), Countyline Babe (Myles Heffernan Sr.) and Pay Me My Money (Kenny Arsenault) as the top three picks.

The only division of three-year-old trotters goes in Race 6 with six contenders vying for a purse of $15,520.  Irish Ray (Marc Campbell), Getting Salty (Clare MacDonald) and  Windemergotmuscle (Jason Hughes) are the top three picks. Owned by Three Wisemen Stable of Kingston, P.E.I., Irish Ray (pictured above) will look to continue his dominance for trainer/driver Marc Campbell. The undefeated Muscle Through It gelding has won all his four starts in 2023 and is looking for win number 16.

This is the last opportunity for the two and three-year-old Atlantic Sires Stakes trotters to seek points for entry into the Atlantic Breeders Crown championships. The championships will take place on Oct. 8 at Red Shores Charlottetown during the Atlantic Breeders Crown weekend.
