Prospect Series Contested At Grand River
Grand River Raceway featured two-year-old trotting fillies in two divisions of the $8,500 Prospect Series on Monday (Aug. 21) and Sandoon posted a career-best performance in the first split.
Sandoon and driver Bruce Richardson hit the gas leaving from the rail spot in the field of five. Richardson and the John Holding trainee set panels in :30.4 and 1:04 before Chaud Holliday (Ryan Holliday) made her first over move on the outside. Chaud Holliday was the first to the three-quarters in 1:34.1 and continued to lead as the field rounded to the stretch. Sandoon battled back and won by 2-1/4 lengths in 2:03.4. The Blondy (Travis Henry) took second while Chaud Holliday took the show spot.
Holding and Morley Bosomworth co-own Sandoon (Lookslikeachpndale-Striking Ivy) as she goes two-for-two in her young career. She paid $6.50 to win.
Muscle Charm led gate-to-wire to win her series split with J Harris in the bike for Paul Cameron.
Harris sent Muscle Charm from post four and powering to the front. The pair clicked out panels in :30.3, 1:03.2 and 1:34.3. Graceful China (Jason Ryan) sought battle in the stretch, but Muscle Charm 'out-muscled' her to win by a neck in 2:05.3. Melissas Day (Keith Jones) finished third.
Paul & Jayme Cameron own Muscle Charm (Muscle Mass-Exquisite Charm), who recorded her first win in five attempts. She paid $7.40 to win.
