Another Six Pack For J-Mac At Vernon
Lepanto prevailed in the featured dash on Saturday, Aug. 19 at Vernon Downs, but the star of the show was driver John MacDonald as the P.E.I. native notched his second six-win performance in eight days.
MacDonald got his wins with Ashlees Supreme, Sugaree Express, All Heart I Am, Sgt Papa Daddy, Last Call Larry, and he finished in a dead heat with Sweet Sofie T along with SVF Cash Deposit (Barton Dalious).
Lepanto ($4.20) was fifth at three-quarters in the featured $7,500 trot, but came charging down the home stretch to blow by his rivals and win in 1:56. Poker Play (Steeven Genois) came flying late to snatch second. Discus Hanover (MacDonald) finished third.
Lepanto is a five-year-old gelding by Bar Hopping. He is owned by the Betcha Win Stable and trained by Jeff Sorenson. It was his seventh win this season and his 18th career victory.
